Britain’s Mike Conway joined Formula E in its fourth round, the Buenos Aires ePrix, after Jacques Villeneuve’s departure from Venturi.

Toyota WEC team-mate Stéphane Sarrazin was key to getting Mike into the Monegasque team; “He [Sarrazin] must have put in a good word for me”, expressed the former Indy Car driver, soon after he joined the series.

Toyota team-mate Stéphane Sarrazin was key on getting Mike on the Monegasque team; “He [Sarrazin] must have put in a good word for me”, expressed the former Indy Car driver, soon after he joined the series.

Conway’s debut came on February 6th, in the Argentinian capital. Despite being a rookie in the series, Conway impressed everybody by making it to Super Pole; but fell down to 15th during the race. Nevertheless, his performance gave the team hope on a better season.

The following race was Mexico, where he didn’t have much luck, as he finished the race 12th, two places behind his team-mate; but as he was still a newcomer into the series, the team did not put much pressure on him, as he had yet lots to learn.

Having won in Long Beach in 2014, as an Indy Car driver, the Briton said before the race how much he appreciated this track, “Long Beach holds a lot of great memories, all from my Indy Car days”. Mike scored his first single point in Formula E, under the Californian sun in Long Beach, where his team performed better than ever, in front of the co-owner Leonardo Di Caprio.

The European leg of the championship kicked off in Paris, where once again, luck wasn’t on Conway’s side, as he didn’t score any points, finishing 14th after being taken out by Nick Heidfeld in qualifying – following on from strong practice pace.

Formula E later moved to Berlin, where Mike had his best result so far, achieving 8th position and scoring 4 valuable points to position the team higher on the standings.

As London quickly approaches, the Monegasque team aims to have good results, as it did last year, before Sarrazin’s disqualification. Conway, new to this track, will face a totally different challenge, as Battersea is remarkably different to the rest. Nevertheless, we can expect him to have a good performance in qualifying, as he usually does, and he can’t be ruled out of achieving a notable result, because, despite being a newcomer to the track, perhaps Battersea can finally be HIS track.
