Turvey: “My aim is always to win”

Oliver Turvey believes victory could be possible in Marrakesh, given the pace shown by the NextEV team at the season opener in Hong Kong.

Turvey, who is in his second full campaign in the all-electric series, started from the front row for the first time in Hong Kong, with team mate Nelson Piquet Jr on pole, but ultimately fell down the order and ended the race in eighth.

Despite this, Turvey was encouraged by the speed of the car and hopes to be able to fight at the sharp end of the field once again in Marrakesh.

“The new car is a big step forward from last season in all areas, with the main improvements being that the new NextEV powertrain is lighter and more efficient as well as improvements on the chassis and suspension to give a more stable car. The whole team has worked hard since last season so a massive thanks to them for this big step forward.”

“After the first round in Hong Kong, we had a debrief with the team engineers to understand the areas we could improve on together. The engineering team has been working hard with the powertrain and the chassis to make further progress. We will be doing some more preparation on the simulator ahead of Marrakesh.”

“The Marrakesh track looks an exciting one, with some faster corners and plenty of straights offering many overtaking opportunities. The first sector looks particularly exciting with two fast long corners.”

“My aim is always to win so I will be aiming to go one better in qualifying and to convert this in the race.”
