Lucas di Grassi has put forward a proposed track layout to Formula E that will see the all-electric series hit the streets of Sao Paulo.

The Brazilian, who has been a front runner in the series since its inauguration, penned the circuit around the Ibirapuera Park to the south of the city and believes the motorsport-loving country would be an ideal addition to the calendar.

“I have drawn out a track and now we try to make something happen,” di Grassi told Motorsport.com.

“The prospects are exciting not only for me but also the race fans of Brazil, it would be a great highlight for me to be able to race in my home city again.”

The proposed circuit is just over 20km from the Interlagos circuit used for Formula 1 and will be 2.4km long with 11 corners.

The idea of racing in Brazil is backed by Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag, who explained to Grande Premio that the country is a “priority” for the series.

Agag also told the Brazilian magazine: “We are in talks with a number of potential host cities at the moment. It’s very possible to see us running in Brazil maybe next season, or more likely in the fifth season.”
