Dragon Racing

Owned by Jay Penske, son of legendary team boss Roger, the Dragon Racing team made their name in the US before entering Formula E last season. After a solid first half of the season, both Jérôme d’Ambrosio and Loïc Duval took multiple podiums in the closing stages of the season – d’Ambrosio also won in Berlin. This moved the American squad up to second in the teams’ championship by the season’s end. They will use the Venturi powertrain in the second season of Formula E.

Founded in 2006, the team is based in Los Angeles, California, and competed in the IndyCar Series from 2007 until 2014. After making sporadic appearances in their first few years, the team competed in its first full-time campaign in 2009 with Brazil’s Raphael Matos. Both Ho-Pin Tung and Scott Speed attempted to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 with the team in 2011 but were unable to do so.

In 2012, Sebastien Bourdais joined the team alongside Katherine Legge. Bourdais would take the team’s best IndyCar result in 2013, with a 2nd place finish in Toronto along with two additional 3rd places. After the 2013 season, they began to prepare for their entry into Formula E so did not enter IndyCar in 2014.
