Team Aguri have announced that Antonio Felix Da Costa will be re-joining the team ahead of the season opener in two weeks’ time.

The Portuguese driver, who drove for the team in season one, didn’t attend testing for the team in August, but alluded to his return to Formula E on twitter, saying earlier this week “flight to Beijing is booked… Helmet is ready and seats are there. Should be a fun outcome!” Da Costa stopped short of confirming the speculations, until the official announcement today.

I am really happy to be returning to Team Aguri and Formula E for season two,” Da Costa said in the official press release.

[pullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]“The team are making big steps forwards and I believe we have the tools to fight hard and bring home the solid results. I cannot wait for Beijing. I really want to thank the team for having me back.”[/pullquote]

Last year, the former Red Bull junior balanced his Formula E commitments with racing in the DTM championship for BMW, and will continue to do so this season. This duel commitments didn’t hinder Da Costa’s Formula E season last year, when he brought Aguri their maiden victory in Buenos Aires and finished eighth overall in the championship.

Aguri Suzuki, owner and chairman of Team Aguri, said “I am very excited to have Antonio back for season two.”

“I wasn’t in Buenos Aires so I hope to get to celebrate the first win this coming season with the team. I am looking forward to new beginnings with Antonio and all the Team Aguri members.”

Team principal, Mark Preston, said “he delivered some very exciting drives in season one and, with Team Aguri focusing on reliability and delivering straight out of the box in Beijing, he will be a crucial part of the strategy.”

It is still unknown who Da Costa’s team mate will be this season, but an announcement from the team is expected soon.
