Buemi on top in first Beijing practice

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sebastien Buemi led a Renault e.Dams one-two in first practice of the season opening ePrix in Beijing.

It took until the final few minutes of the session for Buemi and team-mate Prost to show their pace, with the Swiss driver going half a second quicker than his team-mate.

The first part of the session saw Sam Bird, Jean-Eric Vergne, Loic Duval, Oliver Turvey and Buemi go near the top before Bird  put in a a 1:38.5, some two seconds faster than his nearest rival.

However, in the final few minutes, Buemi and Prost went onto their full power laps and put in times of 1:36.9 and 1:37.4.

Loic Duval slotted into third, four tenths off Buemi’s fastest time. Jerome d’Ambrosio was fourth, followed by Bird and Nick Heidfeld.

Stephane Sarrazin, Daniel Abt, Oliver Turvey and Antonio Felix da Costa rounded out the top 10.

Bruno Senna and Formula E debutant Robin Frijns were 11th and 12, with Frijns’ teammate Simona de Silvestro a tenth behind.

Jean-Eric Vergne, Lucas Di Grassi, Jacques Villeneuve, Nathanael Berthon and Nelson Piquet Jr, who hit the barriers at the pit exit, rounded out the standings.
