‘It’s a natural conclusion’ – Rogers

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Jaguar Land Rover believes their entry into the FIA Formula E championship is the next logical step in their programme of electric vehicles, as it looks to further its own development of innovations and technologies.

Nick Rogers, group engineering director for Jaguar Land Rover, spoke at the official announcement about what the move into Formula E means for the company and the future of their electric vehicle prospects.

“Electric vehicles will absolutely play a role in Jaguar Land Rover’s future product portfolio and Formula E will give us a unique opportunity to further our development of electrification technologies.

“The championship will enable us to engineer and test our advanced technologies under extreme performance conditions.

“It is my belief that over the next five years we will see more changes in the automotive world than in the last three decades.

“The future is about being more connected and more sustainable; electrification and lightweight technologies are becoming more important than ever as urbanisation continues to increase.

“Formula E has recognised and reacted to these trends and the championship’s exciting and pioneering approach is the perfect fit for our brand.”

Speaking to ERN, Rogers believes that the decision to join Formula E fits with the vision of the company as they look towards a greener future, while also expressing his delight at the prospect of other car manufacturers possible following suit and joining the all-electric racing series.

“For us it’s a natural conclusion. Being part of the exciting series that focuses on endurance electrification in an urban environment absolutely fits for Jaguar Land Rover and Jaguar Racing.

“You could naturally conclude that other manufacturers will be sat there drawing the same conclusions because they’re all talking about electrification. We’re extremely proud and excited to be a part of of it and if others join that would be fantastic.”

Jaguar will join Citroen, Audi, Volkswagen and Renault as car manufacturers involved with Formula E from season three onwards.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
