Venturi to return strengthened to Punta

Venturi are preparing for an entertaining but challenging battle on the streets of Punta Del Este. The team has had a good start to the season, and are looking to improve on that in the next race.

“So far our results have been encouraging but not completely satisfactory,” team leader Franck Baldet said. “We took advantage of the last few weeks to strengthen our working methods and to reduce as much as possible any problems that Stephane faced in Putrajaya.”

An amazing qualifying round put Sarrazin on the front row of the grid, but trouble with the car on the start line meant he dropped to the back of the pack before the race began.

“Jacques Villeneuve, who has less experience in Formula E, has already demonstrated that he is able to be very competitive in qualifying rounds, and in the race.”

Baldet said he was confident both Sarrazin and Villeneuve will be able to manage the car battery when getting into battles on the track.

The race isn’t the only thing Venturi are focusing on. In season testing doesn’t come often, and Venturi are making sure they can do as much as they can on the test day after the ePrix.

“Regulations prohibit us from testing new components,” Baldet explained. “So we are going to focus on optimizing performance and energy consumption in different circumstances.”

Villeneuve has lost out on track time due to mechanical issues in the prep days for both Beijing and Putrajaya, so will be driving a lot during the test day.

The team will be using the test to prepare for the two thirds of the calendar that will be left by the time the sun sets on the sandy track this Saturday.
