Berthon and Aguri part ways

Nathanael Berthon has exited the Aguri Formula E team ahead of the Buenos Aires ePrix, ending a three race spell with the Anglo-Japanese squad.

Berthon was a constant presence for the team in pre-season testing, doing enough to earn a race seat for the second season of the Formula E championship alongside Antonio Felix da Costa.

Making his debut in Beijing, the Frenchman impressed the paddock with a superb drive to eighth place, but has since struggled to find pace with pointless finishes in Putrajaya and Punta del Este.

Speaking on his departure from the team, Berthon stated his intent to stay within Formula E.

[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]”I am determined, more than ever, to continue my career in Formula E, and I would like to thank the Team Aguri for giving me a start in the series.”[/pullquote]

Mark Preston, team principal, added: “We would like to thank Nathanael for his dedication to the team and wish him the very best in his future Formula E career.

“We are carefully considering our options and will announce his replacement in due course.”

Berthon’s replacement is believed by Motorsport.com to be Salvador Duran, who competed for the team in season one before joining the now-defunct Trulli team at the start of the season, but as of yet there is no official confirmation from Team Aguri.
