NEXTEV expecting improvement in Buenos Aires

NEXTEV TCR are expecting another tough race as they head to Buenos Aires this weekend, but believe improvements will come in the first race of 2016.

It’s been a challenging season for NEXTEV so far, but a promising test after the Punta del Este has given the team hope that they might be able to turn their luck around in Argentina.

“We were very close to scoring more points in Punta del Este, and the test on Sunday was very encouraging,” said Steven Lu, Team Principal. “We have been working on a few updates in the last month and we are expecting some improvements in Buenos Aires.”

The team have been working on a new Driver in the Loop simulator ahead of the ePrix which they hope will help a lot to prepare for the weekend.

“We have been working very hard without new Driver in the Loop simulator back in Europe, with drivers and race engineers having the chance to work together to test and optimise their set-up strategies,” said NEXTEV president, Martin Leach.

Nelson Piquet scored a podium at the race in Argentina last season. The same result, though maybe the aim, isn’t a realistic hope in the upcoming race.

“The track in Buenos Aires is a really fun track to race on,” he said. “Obviously we are having a tough season so this race will be another challenge for us but we will be fighting hard for points.”

Oliver Turvey will be making his debut at the track this weekend.

“Since Punta del Este, I have spent some time with engineers on the simulator to prepare for my first race in Buenos Aires,” he said. “The track seems fast with some long straights and big braking zones, so I’m excited to race on this track. The team has been working hard since the last race and I feel well prepared so we’re aiming to make some steps forward together.”
