DS Virgin Racing will be arriving to Mexico on a high after their first win of the season last time out in Buenos Aires, but the team won’t be benefiting from the familiarity of the track that Sam Bird puts his last win down to.

“I went into Buenos Aires with confidence because I knew the track,” Bird said. “Obviously I don’t have that luxury with Mexico but I’m confident with the team and the car and I’ll be aiming to compete for victory again.”

Bird will be going into the race Third in the championship, 24 points behind Lucas Di Grassi and 28 behind Sebastien Buemi.

This year’s race will be the first time Formula E will be heading to Mexico and, following Formula One’s spectacular return to Mexico City, the ePrix promises to bring excitement. Jean-Eric Vergne plans to use that energy and aim high.

“I’m looking forward to Mexico. I felt like I haven’t done as well as I might have liked the past few races, so I am going to give my everything during this event to get a good result,” he said. “I am also really pleased to be heading to Mexico. I know the area we are going to, it’s fantastic and the stadium atmosphere will be amazing. I’ve raced in Mexico City before and the fans are great.”

Following test day after Punta Del Este, DS Virgin Racing have made some changes, hoping to see improvements in the technology that helps drivers manage their energy.

Whilst still on a high, Virgin’s Team Principal is remaining realistic.

“We will remain, ambitious but realistic. I believe we will continue to improve,” he said. “The Buenos Aires ePrix has shown that we are capable of upsetting the leader board so our next challenge is consistency. Our ambition is to be on the podium every race between now and the end of the season.”
