Aguri Suzuki set to leave Formula E

Team Aguri has announced that the squad has entered a period of consultation regarding the future of the team, which will result in Aguri Suzuki’s ownership coming to an end.

The Anglo-Japanese Formula E team could potentially be bought by an investment company, reported by Motorsport.com to be Chinese Media Capital. The deal means it is likely that Ma Qing Hua, a Chinese WTCC driver, will be given his Formula E debut in place of Salvador Duran.

Suzuki’s tenure with the team will be halted due to the withdrawal of its JAF licence, having registered fully as a UK entrant.

A spokesperson for the team said: “Aguri Suzuki played a fundamental role in the formation of the team and we would like to thank him for his continued support. We are now entering a new phase for the team and are in advanced discussions with new investors, but will not be able to comment further at this time. We will make subsequent announcements in due course.”
