After a disappointing race in Long Beach where everything that could have gone wrong seemed to go wrong, Renault e.dams bounced back at their home event in Paris with third and fourth placed finishes for their two drivers.

After some disappointing and troubled races, the French team was now racing on home soil, expecting to get as many points as possible. Free Practice 1 saw the team having the pace they’d shown at the beginning of the championship, with Sébastien Buemi topping the standings. The following session was still good for the French squad, that had their drivers in Groups 1 (Buemi) and 3 (Prost) of qualifying.
The crash between Heidfeld and Conway, plus Buemi entering the car to scrutineering, did not allow the Swiss driver to go on with the qualifying session and positioned him in P8. Prost made it to Super Pole, where he got P5.
When red lights went out and the race started, Buemi quickly overtook some cars, positioning himself fifth, as teammate Nico Prost was up on fourth place. Car swaps were trouble-free this time, and both drivers were back in their race positions to keep battling the cars ahead, with Buemi now ahead of Prost.
Towards the end of the race, Sam Bird made a mistake at turn 1, which allowed Buemi to reach third position, where he ended up the race. As he said after the race, he could have had battled Frenchman Jean-Éric Vergne, but he could not activate the FanBoost and therefore got third position, still earning some good points.
The team left Paris still leading the Teams’ Championship, thanks to both drivers scoring good points this weekend.

[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Alain Prost: “I’m quite pleased with today’s result. Before we started the weekend I’d have said that maybe we wouldn’t be able to do so well today. […] It’s great to be on the podium, even more so as here in France on home soil, and especially for Sébastien who is still very much a favourite in the race for the title. […] We can also be proud of the event itself here in Paris. The crowd was amazing and it was a great show in our capital city. It was a big success for us and for Renault”.
Jean Paul Driot: “We are gaining a little bit in the championship so in the end it’s been a good weekend for us and we must carry on working very hard to be on pace and arrive at the next round in Berlin to fight for the championship on both sides, drivers’ and team”.[/pullquote]

The Swiss driver arrived to the Paris race from a disappointing race in Long Beach, where he did not score race points. Buemi, who has won two races so far this season, was one point behind Di Grassi in the Drivers’ Championship. Having had good pace in both qualifying sessions, a crash between Heidfeld and Conway prevented him going on with the qualifying group and positioned him in eighth place. However, this did not stop the Swiss driver battling for the first places, as he overtook five cars to finish the race third. Even though there is now a 16 point gap between him and Di Grassi, a solid points haul has allowed him to keep up the Drivers’ Championship battle.

The Frenchman undoubtedly had a lot on pressure on him this weekend. With Long Beach left behind, he completed the Free Practice sessions showing strong pace, and could make it to Super Pole in his qualifying group. He started the race from P5, four positions ahead of his teammate, and battled strongly to move up some places; to finally finish the race fourth. Prost hasn’t had the best season, but yet he has scored some good points that have allowed the team to remain first on the Teams’ Standings.
