Closed Circuit: Dragon Racing in Paris

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

It was a weekend to forget for Dragon Racing, as Loïc Duval retired early from his home event and Jérôme d’Ambrosio could only finish 11th, meaning a point-less weekend for the American team.

Dragon experienced one of their toughest Formula E weekends so far, with both drivers unable to qualify or finish in the top ten. Jérôme d’Ambrosio set the eleventh quickest time in qualifying, while a massive lock-up meant that Loïc Duval could only start in P16. Duval only made it four laps into the race before a technical issue forced him to retire. d’Ambrosio suffered a poor start which dropped him to P13, and despite the quickest car swap of any driver in the race, the Belgian could only finish in P11, gaining back two places by the end of the ePrix.

After five points finishes from the first six races of the season, Duval would have come into his home event hoping for more of the same. However his race day never quite went to plan. After P6 and P12 in the two practice sessions, qualifying saw a massive lock-up in the cold conditions, ruining his lap and leading to a P16 start. Just four laps in to the race, his Dragon machine ground to a halt, forcing an early end to proceedings.

Like team-mate Duval, Jérôme d’Ambrosio did not have a day to remember in the French capital. He was always on the back foot after his car broke down in FP1, meaning he was behind on track time compared to the rest of the field. Always playing catch-up, he qualified eleventh but dropped two places at the start, and spent the whole race getting those two positions back. He finished P11, right where he started, and was unable to take advantage of his team giving him the quickest car swap of anyone in the race.
