Post qualifying penalties shuffle the grid

Several post qualifying penalties have mixed up the grid for the Berlin ePrix 2016. Championship leader Lucas di Grassi is the biggest gainer as he moves up to P8 which might be vital for the championship as his main rival Sebastien Buemi (Renault e.Dams) starts from P2.

Within an hour before the official start of the Berlin ePrix 2016 news started circulating that there might have been a number of post qualifying penalties. Andretti were the first to announce on twitter that Simona de Silvestro moved up to P8 and Robin Frijns would head into the race starting P12 which turned out to not be entirely correct.

Only a few minutes later, Mahindra Racing confirmed via twitter that their drivers Bruno Senna and Nick Heidfeld would start from P15 and P16 after celebrating their best ever qualifying earlier this afternoon. Stephane Sarrazin (Venturi) and Jerome d’Ambrosio (Dragon Racing) emerged as the other two drivers who received a penalty following qualifying, reasons unknown.

Nevertheless, there have not been any changes in the top three. Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Virgin Racing) will start ahead of Buemi and local hero Daniel Abt (ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport).
