Our in-house photographer Rajan Jangda recaps the Berlin ePrix 2016 and takes you back to the action with 20 of his favourite shots of the weekend.

Expecting Trouble : On Friday, some teams were practicing changing wings and wheels, it was quite clear they were expecting cars to limp back with damage at some point during the race from the chicane bollards and first corner contact. One such team was Amlin Andretti, where I caught two mechanics chattering over the rear wing as they waited to push the car in.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6267″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Pushing is Fun : These two Mahindra mechanics appeared to be enjoying themselves and having quite a lot of fun while pushing one of the Mahindra cars back into the garage from scrutineering, the unique shape of a Formula E car allowed for a less cryptic shot.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6268″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

You Have To Look Down To Look Up : A different angle of a Formula E car, it’s easy to make the mistake of only looking at things from eye-level, our usual tried and trusted perspective of the world, our comfort zone, but what we sometimes do not realise is that there is still so much more hidden from view.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6270″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Flooring It : Sebastien Buemi gets to the pitlane exit and floors it, a photographer watches him floor it and floors his camera, for me some things just tend to look better at ground level, eye level is far too common and does not express as much.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6271″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Peek-A-Bleu : The tiniest of gaps in a wall (that’s safe to use) can present the most unique perspectives, in this case the turn 2-3 chicane which saw three unfortunate bollards get completely massacred by the cars.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6272″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Enter Stage Left : Every sport can be loosely interpreted as a theatrical show, with the venue acting as its stage and the competitors being the characters. In this case it’s Jérôme d’Ambrosio entering the Berlin track stage left.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6273″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Bring Home The Custard : Jérôme d’Ambrosio, known as ‘The Custard’ exiting the Strausberger Platz section of the track after a troubled weekend, the car heading towards the sun created the ‘setting off into the sun’ feel.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6274″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Grab Any Seat : Race tickets were sold out, so we were seeing people trying whatever means they could to see the action, even the edges of the rooftops! Personally, I think the teddy bear on the left had the best view here.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6275″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Confetti Cloudburst : Lucas di Grassi briefly looking up to admire the confetti and steamers, Formula E knows how to do podiums, and this is before the giant balloons!

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6276″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

ABTsolutely Amazing : His best result so far in front of his home crowd, Daniel Abt was a star attraction of the weekend, easily finishing better than his fellow countrymen in Berlin.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6277″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Views : The e-racing.net team noticed a pair of shoes dangling from a power cable on Friday and thought, “yeah, they’ll probably take that down”, surprisingly on Saturday evening it was still there! You have no idea how tempted we are to photoshop Drake into this…

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6269″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Carbon Copy : Clear helmet visors are increasingly becoming a thing of the past, so it’s always a rare treat to have the chance to shoot the eyes of a driver, it’s even rarer to shoot a second generation driver like Nico Prost who is an almost spitting image of his father Alain.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6278″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Suspended In Motion : Angles like this are made possible by the close confines of a street circuit, the close up head shots where you suspend the car in motion, not just the car, but also the discarded earplug floating through the air.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6279″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Firmly Wedged : Firmly wedged between the Tecpro barrier and the concrete wall, the front wing of Sebastien Buemi. It’s easy to forget how his day started with an off in FP1.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6280″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Heavy Rotation : Jérôme d’Ambrosio a.k.a “The Custard” circumvolving his car out of turn 5 under one of the multiple 30 second bursts of almost perfect sunlight.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6281″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

No Hands??? : Not quite, just the illusion created by drivers having to cross their arms whilst navigating the turn 10 hairpin, that’s actually the bottom of the steering wheel you can see.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6282″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

#JevBoost : Replying to previous rumours about his future with DS Racing on track, Jean-Eric Vergne took an almost surprising pole with everyone expecting either Sebastien Buemi or Lucas di Grassi to take the pole.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6283″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Battered and Bruised : The bollards that is, victims of the relentless assaults on chicanes, at one point they were twisted around one another and by the end of the race they were fully caked in Michelin rubber. #Justice4Bollards

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6284″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Simona de Sil-FAST-ro : She had a much better race, equalling her best finish of the season (9th); here I captured her throwing her Amlin Andretti car through the fast turn 9 towards the end of the race.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”6285″ img_size=”1600×1000″ img_link_large=”yes”][vc_column_text]

Symmetry In Motion : It’s amazing how we take pitstops for granted as a thing that just happens, we only look that the technicality, but not the beauty of it, the way in which mechanics work in almost symmetrical harmony.
