Deputy editor in chief Topher Smith caught up with ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport’s Daniel Abt, to ask for his thoughts on the weekend ahead and also reflect on his podium in Berlin last time out.

“Yeah I do think so, Berlin was fantastic, we were in good shape, but obviously it’s a different track here, a different scenario, could rain here, but we are in a good shape and we are motivated, a big task ahead with the drivers and constructors championship and I’m going to try to be on the podium again.”

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”So you are staying on with the team in Season 3, that’s confirmed, but do you think this team will give you the best opportunity to fight for wins and fight for titles?” style=”text_only” color=”green” open=”true” css_animation=”appear” el_id=”1457462462816-456a668d-8c18″]

“Yes, I do think so, there’s a lot of teams, who are also good but from Season 1 onwards we’ve been strong, we’ve been the ones the most to extract the most out of the Season 1 car, together with Renault eDams, this year the same again. For next year, we’re going to have to push hard again, hopefully, our powertrain is good, but we are in good shape, we have mega partners around us, and I see no reason why we shouldn’t be competitive again.”

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Last time out in Berlin, we had the situation where Lucas needed to get his way past you, but it didn’t happen. If it happened again, would you move to let him through?” style=”text_only” color=”green” open=”true” css_animation=”appear” el_id=”1457462463022-821ddfd0-bd90″]

“Sure, to be honest, Berlin was a difficult scenario for us, first of all, it was our [my] home race, second of all the gaps were tight, it was pretty risky to let him pass, I tried once, it didn’t happen, then second time we tried it and it didn’t work again. But here, it’s about the championship, then it has my priority and for sure I’m going to help him whenever I can.”

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What do you make of the track here in London?” style=”text_only” color=”green” open=”true” css_animation=”appear” el_id=”1457463329639-9d8ec79b-dac0″]

“”I think it’s a good track! But it’s not great for racing, so qualifying has to be good to have a good result in the races.”

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Final question, it’ll be the last time the London ePrix is hosted in Battersea Park, where in London would you like to see the London ePrix being held?” style=”text_only” color=”green” open=”true” css_animation=”appear” el_id=”1457463396656-6518f5ac-b6ef”]

“I don’t know, I don’t know London well enough to really tell you a good spot, but I guess something else than a park would be better because here we don’t see much of London, you could be in the middle of a park in my home country for instance. Just something more iconic, on the streets where people can really see us and the cars coming by, would be better.”
