Simona de Silvestro: “It’s quite open right now”

Ahead of the two last rounds of the championship, held in London this weekend, our Deputy Editor in Chief, Topher Smith, talked with Simona de Silvestro about the Andretti team’s new livery and her plans for season 3.

Amlin Andretti is now MS Amlin Andretti, with a new-look livery revealed on Thursday. The team had previously released a new livery at last year’s London ePrix, as well, with the bright orange of TE Connectivity coinciding with de Silvestro’s arrival at the team for last season’s finale.

The Swiss driver expressed that the new MS Amlin livery “looks awesome” as she likes a lot to have more white on the car and that the lines add to the design the feeling of being faster. She also joked that she’s relieved that there’s no jinx colour on the cars, as there used to be in her Indy Car days. “In Formula E, we don’t have, like in my Indy Car days, a jinx colour, which was green. […] In Formula E, I haven’t seen an unlucky colour yet”.

On more serious matters, namely her personal aims for this weekend and also her future in the series, Simona said that her main focus now is to “finish this season strong, to have a good result for myself”. The former Indy Car star also revealed that she would consider racing in other categories, even though she loves being part of Formula E’s fun. To conclude, Simona said of the situation “it’s quite open right now”.
