Turvey returns to scene of debut ePrix

This weekend’s London ePrix will see Oliver Turvey race on a track of which he has previous experience, after the Englishman debuted with NEXTEV TCR as the fourth driver to pilot the #88 that season.

Turvey won many fans after finishing in the points in both races, as well as aiding team mate Nelson Piquet Jr to the championship title.

Now the NEXTEV driver believes his previous outing at Battersea Park could be beneficial as he looks to add to his points tally.

“It’s the first track I’ve actually got some experience of from last year, so it’s nice to know that I drove here last year and was able to put in some good times,” said Turvey. “I feel as though that experience should benefit me and as for the track layout there’s a few slightly different areas and some of the tarmac looks a little bit different. Obviously you still have to adapt to that weekend’s conditions but I think it’s going to be an advantage to have that experience from last year.

“It’s one of the most challenging circuits. It’s quite fast in places with tricky chicanes and braking, so I think it’s one of the most challenging out there. I went well here last year and that was my first ever time in the car and now I have a lot more experience of the car and feel more confident with the car. I’m sure that will help, but obviously the package we have this year is not as good as we had last year so it will be tough with the car we have.”

Looking forward to next season, Turvey is hopeful of staying with the team that gave him his debut.

“I’d love to stay in Formula E and be with NEXTEV. They were the first ones to give me the opportunity and I’ve always been loyal to those who have supported me. They’re putting in a big effort and hopefully I can be a part of that as well.”

Going into the season finale, Turvey lies 14th in the championship with ten points following a pair of point finishes in Beijing and Buenos Aires.
