da Costa happy with new environment

Antonio Felix da Costa is settling well into new team MS Amlin Andretti, having spent two seasons with the now-defunct Team Aguri. Paired up with Dutchman Robin Frijns, the Portuguese driver is eager for a more competitive season and hopes better results will come.

At testing, da Costa spoke of his new team and seemed to be more than happy with the new environment.

“It’s been pretty easy, to be honest,” said the 24-year-old. “There are some of the guys that I knew from the past, the American guys are super easy to work with, and I do relate myself to the American way of doing things. I also have my engineer that ran me last year, he came here with me and that makes things easier.”

Despite having to retire from the ongoing session, da Costa is positive about the course of the development at Andretti “The issues were just some software stuff; today everybody’s running new steering wheels. We were running with some issues, which is normal when you run new stuff. All is going according to plan.”

When asked about when he did sign with the American team, da Costa expressed it was done soon after London. He’s confident on his new team, and is taking these first tests more as a shakedown, hoping that in three days time they will be competitive enough. MS Amlin Andretti is running a season three package, after running with the same for two seasons. ‘We had to do two steps in one go’, explained the Portuguese driver.

With one win to his name, da Costa is eager to see what season three brings him, and hopes that his switch to a new team is the key to success.
