Turvey: “The objective is to win”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Oliver Turvey is confident that the steps made by the NextEV team will produce stronger results in season three of the Formula E championship, setting himself a personal aim of taking his maiden victory in the category.

Both Turvey and team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr struggled for pace last season, with the Englishman taking 11 points from three top ten finishes.

Last season’s London ePrix provided Turvey with a chance to score his maiden podium as he ran in the top three for the majority of the first race before crashing out a handful of laps from the end.

With a difficult season behind him, Turvey praised the efforts of the team in developing the season three car, which convinced the 29-year-old to stay on with the team.

“After seeing the large effort put into the team by NextEV since it took over the new car design, it was an easy decision to re-sign with them in the Formula E Championship. Martin Leach gave me the first opportunity to race in the series and as we both have similarly high ambitions I wanted to be able to continue our journey together.”

“The NextEV team has worked extremely hard on the new season three car. We completed some productive private testing in Spain to learn and understand the new car’s performance and feel we have made a significant step forwards from last year.”

“The objective personally and within the team is to win. We know it won’t be easy as there is very strong competition from the other teams and drivers, but I will be giving it my all to get the first win of the season for the team.”

“The growth of the Formula E Championship has been very impressive over the last two seasons. They have achieved a huge amount in this time to create the first fully electric series with exciting races all over the world. It’s very positive to see the increase in public awareness of electric racing and exciting to have new manufacturers joining the championship this season.”

“The Hong Kong ePrix circuit looks like an exciting one, with a number of quick flowing corners as well as a long straight offering overtaking opportunities. The location of the circuit next to the waterfront in Hong Kong should make for a spectacular event.”

“I am particularly looking forward to the first round in Hong Kong due to the circuit location and as it’s the first race of the season. I am also excited for the double-header race weekends in Montreal and New York at the end of the season.”
