Could a second South American ePrix be on the cards?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Formula E in South America might look very different in season four. Not only will the Buenos Aires track, the only original circuit from Formula E’s debut season still on the calendar, be changed for next season, but a new South American location could be on the cards.

Alejandro Agag told e-racing.net at a press conference yesterday that, though revamping the Buenos Aires ePrix is the main priority, Formula E is still looking at expanding to neighbouring countries.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]“We have many different options and offers,” Agag said. “We have Brazil and a few others. First of all, we are thinking of renewing the contract here in Argentina, and then we can start evaluating the offers.”[/perfectpullquote]

As the Punta del Este ePrix was taken off of the calendar, there will only be one visit to South America this season. Brazil has been a firm favourite amongst Formula E drivers when asked where they want to head to in the future, but it’s easier said than done.

Political unrest in Brazil has made things difficult to arrange in the South American country. Though they did manage to host a successful Olympics, the problems faced building up to the event can’t be ignored, and could hinder the progress of a possible Brazilian ePrix.
