Huis inherits Las Vegas eRace victory

Bono Huis has been awarded the victory in the Las Vegas eRace following a post-race investigation which saw on-track winner Olli Pahkala penalised for a FanBoost infringement.

Pahkala, who seemed to have pulled a masterclass of a strategy to jump Huis and Felix Rosenqvist in the pit stops, suffered a glitch in his FanBoost software, which according to the data gave the Finn a boost lasting for six laps instead of the intended six seconds.

The penalty drops the Mahindra driver down to third place, with teammate Felix Rosenqvist moving up into second while Huis, who had previously dominated the proceedings, inherits the win.

The Dutchman had been quick from the offset and was barely challenged en route to pole position, with Rosenqvist the only driver to get near the sim racer.

Huis kept the Mahindra driver at bay for the entirety of the race and was on course to take victory before Pahkala’s FanBoost glitch elevated him to the head of the field.

The revised result means Huis takes home the biggest share of the $1 million prize, with the race winner being awarded $200,000, while David Greco took the fastest lap of the race and a $10,000 prize for the accolade.
