António Felix Da Costa has admitted to be eyeing different options for 2017. The Lisbon-born driver is now racing full time in Formula E with MS Amlin Andretti and aims to get a seat in WEC, Super Formula or IndyCar, as expressed through his social media.

After departing from DTM last year to focus on his Formula E career, the Portuguese driver has been evaluating other series to race in, with the World Endurance Championship appearing as one of the series he aims to be part of, following BMW’s announcement that it will enter the GTE Pro class in 2018.

da Costa has been associated with the German marque since his first DTM season in 2014, and helped bring BMW branding to the MS Amlin Andretti Formula E team.

Ahead of BMW’s entry in the WEC, the Cascais-based racer has said he targets an LMP2 seat to gain more experience in endurance racing, before moving to race for BMW in a car that is aleady being developed.

“I’m developing the WEC car and WEC is where I want to be – I hope I can race there in 2018. I’m trying to do some LMP2 to get some experience in a nice quick car,” da Costa told Autosport.

Last year’s Macau Grand Prix winner has been in talk with Super Formula teams as well.

“Before the main race in Macau I was approached by one of the team bosses, he asked if I was interested and obviously I was to race a big car again, a very powerful one against a lot of big names.”

Despite being seen as a way to keep the Formula 1 dream alive, da Costa revealed he is more interested in the racing itself, than chasing up certain dreams, when it comes to Super Formula: “Helmut Marko once told me, ‘You’re a racing driver – if there’s a nice car to drive, you go.”

Through his own Twitter account, he also expressed his aim to get an IndyCar drive. It is known the liking the Portuguese has for the famous American racing series, and as he confessed, a seat in the United States’ pinnacle of racing would be his dream.

da Costa and his team, MS Amlin Andretti, will race again in Buenos Aires on 18 February, a venue where the driver achieved his first and so far only Formula E race win to date.

Currently lying seventh in the championship, he goes to South American soil aiming to start this racing year on the right foot.
