Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa has been confirmed to test next week for the newest team on Formula E grid.

Panasonic Jaguar Racing has stated that Massa will have the chance to experience what is it like to drive a Formula E car, with the Williams F1 driver due to test the electric car next week. The location of the test is yet to be confirmed.

The Brazilian had earlier been reported to have signed with one of the teams, however he went back on his decision to retire form F1 after Mercedes signed his Williams team-mate, Valtteri Bottas.

The team stated: “Panasonic Jaguar Racing received a request from Formula E to give Felipe Massa the chance to experience a Formula E car. We are happy to provide this opportunity.”

Despite having initially elected to further his career in Formula E, Massa’s decision to return to Williams will now be his sole focus for the upcoming season.

“Since announcing my retirement last year, I had been assessing my options and there were a number of opportunities presented to me that I could have pursued,” he said.

“However, I have made my decision and therefore this is now my focus.”
