Lynn: “Everything is becoming a great destination”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

This year seems to be a promising one for British driver Alex Lynn. After signing as third driver for DS Virgin Racing, he announced his participation in endurance racing and his plans to take part in Le Mans this year. In an exclusive interview with editor Andrea Perilli, he talks about all of this and more.

Earlier this year, British-French outfit DS Virgin Racing, announced the signing of junior formulas star Alex Lynn. The Brit, who had previously got his first test of Formula E with Jaguar in Donington Park testings, always looked forward to joining the series.

“Obviously, it’s a nice experience to be with a Formula E team, and hopefully it’s an experience I’ll gain more, more, and more,” said Lynn, 2014 GP3 series champion and multiple GP2 race winner, who brings a whole new wave of experience to the team.

“I think so. I think that, as my role at the moment is reserve and test driver, my role at the moment is just developing the car, mainly back at the factory and also in the developing testing, as well as any input I can have, and hopefully, getting a few races at some point this year.”

“What I like the most is the fact that it is really going places and it’s an exciting new championship. And it’s going to some really, really cool places, some places in the world I’d like to see.”

“I really enjoyed it, actually. Donington obviously isn’t the best suited circuit for it, but even there I got a good feeling with the car. And I think on a circuit like the one we have here in Argentina, it’s gonna be perfectly suited for a Formula E car.”

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What’s your opinion about Formula E’s fan engagement?” style=”text_only” color=”green” open=”true” css_animation=”appear” el_id=”1457462462816-456a668d-8c18″]

“I think it’s really cool! And I think that as long as it continues going in the same direction, it’s going to be growing bigger, and bigger, and bigger. Having more and more drivers, you wanna be part of it, there are good car manufacturers, new teams, good engineers, mechanics. Everything is becoming a great destination.”

Fans also took part in the interview, as we asked our Twitter followers to send out questions to ask Alex. We selected the best two questions about his journey in endurance racing. Lynn drove some races for Manor in the WEC and has been signed to take part in this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring, Sebring 12 Hours, and Petit Le Mans. He also told us that he will be giving Le Mans a try very soon.

“Most probably; hopefully I’ll be racing something else this year.”

“Yeah, well again, hopefully I’ll be trying that very soon! That’s the plan, anyway.”
