Buemi fastest again in Monaco practice

In a practice that saw the DS Virgin Racing cars looking strong, reigning champion Sebastien Buemi positioned himself first in the very last minutes of the session.

Since the early stages of FP2, Sam Bird was able to reach P1 and remained there for several minutes. Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Mitch Evans put on a good show and ran second after the first runs, whilst Lucas di Grassi remained in the top three for most of the session.

Both Techeetah drivers showed good pace during FP2, with Jean-Eric Vergne leading the standings at one point. Meanwhile, at the Renault e.dams garage things were not working well in the early stages of the session, as Buemi struggled to find his pace and remained at the bottom of the standings. Nico Prost endured a difficult session as well, lingering in the bottom half of the field before finally ending up ninth.

DS Virgin drivers José María “Pechito” López and Bird put in strong performances and led the standings, proving the enormous potential the team does have in practice sessions and qualifying this season. Loïc Duval, from Faraday Future Dragon Racing achieved P6, whilst his team-mate Jerome d’Ambrosio improved his result to P13 after remaining at the bottom of the standings minutes before the session ended.

Buemi ended up leading the standings, as he finally found his pace and put in a stellar lap of 52.729s, dominating both practice sessions. The Swiss driver was followed by Bird, di Grassi, Vergne, and López completing the top five.
