Innovation runs in everybody at Faraday Future’s veins. It has been announced that their FF 91 car will take part in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, becoming the first ever EV OEM to participate in the arduous and prestigious race.

Faraday Future is undoubtedly a growing force within the EV market. The Formula E world got to know the American company, thanks to its partnership with Dragon Racing, which begun in the last two rounds of Season 2. In this third season, no Formula E fan is stranger to them, and many have been able to learn a lot about them, on and off track.

In this opportunity, the California-based company has announced its participation in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, aiming to prove their latest innovation, the FF 91, on the challenging and legendary uphill course.

Along with the car’s run in such a prestigious race, Faraday Future will launch a series of videos, chronicling the job made by the team when testing the car; focusing especially on the engineering and electric mobility aspects.

The hill climb on Pikes serves as the ideal setting to further develop the electric propulsion system and supporting thermal systems of FF 91”, explained Nick Sampson, Faraday Future Senior Vice President of Research and Development. The hillclimb takes place annually in Colorado, USA; and has a total attitude of 1440 metres, a number of 156 turns, and a tarmac surface.

The internal engineering development is one of the main aspects of the car that will be tested on the Pikes Peak course. The FF 91 will run in the exhibition class, which means the vehicle we will see in Pikes Peak is one that follows the characteristics, specifications, and properties of the one Faraday Future will launch in 2018.

Testing the performance of FF 91 in real-world conditions sets the bar even higher as we bring the vehicle to market in 2018”, added Sampson. The prestigious hillclimb will take place on from Monday 19th to Sunday 25th June 2017, with race days being Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th.

The Faraday Future Dragon Racing team is back in action in nest weekend’s double header Berlin ePrix, aiming to get a good result in a track that saw the team conquering its first ever victory in the series, back in 2015, when Jérôme d’Ambrosio was awarded with the win, after Lucas di Grassi’s disqualification.
