Jose Maria Lopez’s priority this weekend is to take another podium finish on top of his maiden top three result at the last ePrix in Paris.

The Argentinian brought his DS Virgin Racing car home in second place in the French capital, only beaten by championship leader Sebastien Buemi, landing him his maiden Formula E podium.

Lopez has never been short of confidence coming into the all-electric series from touring cars, and believes that the podium was a result of a clean weekend and aims for more of the same in the German capital.

“For sure, the confidence has always been there,” said the 34-year-old. “We knew we had to manage a clean weekend and that is what happened in Paris.

“We were not the quickest out there but we deserved that place on the podium, we were consistent and quite fast in practice. I think here is a completely new history but we will try to do it.

“I really hope to achieve a podium but why not the win now that I have a second place? The main priority is to get a podium.”

With both races this weekend seeing a different number of laps, 44 on Saturday and 46 on Sunday, Lopez briefly mentioned the importance of keeping on top of the car on what will be the longest ever Formula E race.

“For sure on how to manage the two races, Saturday will already be the longest race we are going to ever in Formula E and Sunday will be even longer, so managing that will be very important.”
