Testing draws to a close in Valencia

Pre-season testing for Season 4 of the FIA Formula E Championship has officially come to an end, with Dragon Racing’s Jerome d’Ambrosio setting the pace on the final afternoon while Oliver Turvey goes home with the course record.

The last three hours of on-track action at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia saw two red flags periods, with the second coming from a trip into the gravel for Andre Lotterer, who had piloted his Techeetah to the 14th fastest time.

With the majority of drivers focusing on long runs and energy management exercises, the times mostly did not trouble Turvey’s benchmark of 1:21.822s from this morning. As a result, the Englishman officially holds the course record for both configurations of the test track.

Reigning champion Lucas di Grassi ended the afternoon session in second place, a slender 0.076s behind d’Ambrosio and 0.017s ahead of the Techeetah of Jean-Eric Vergne.

It was supremely tight in the top half of the timings, with the fastest 11 drivers finishing within 0.8s of each other. Sebastien Buemi registered the fourth fastest time ahead of Mitch Evans and Nico Prost, who were only separated by 0.004s.

Daniel Abt, Felix Rosenqvist, Antonio Felix da Costa and Nelson Piquet Jr rounded out the top ten.
