López: “It will be key to avoid trouble at the start”

José María López has qualified in a solid fourth place in his Formula E comeback with Dragon Racing. The Argentinean stated that a clean first lap could lead to a good result in his return in Marrakesh ePrix.

López put in a stellar effort to reach Super Pole in his first race back in the series and went on to qualify fourth for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship’s second round in Marrakesh, Morocco. The Argentinian spoke after his lap in Super Pole, which left him in second row for his electric racing comeback with Dragon.

“I didn’t expect this result,” he told Fox Sports Latin America’s crew in the paddock.

“I went to the limit in my qualifying group, so there was not much left for Super Pole,” he explained. However, he ensured his thoughts were in the race. “I focused a lot in the race during the FPs, so I could say I feel even better for the race than for qualifying.”

After his run in the group stages of qualifying, he already felt delighted: “We did a great job, despite whatever comes next, the gap to my team-mate is the first reference. I’m enjoying this, being just 0.1s behind di Grassi, one of the benchmarks in the series is already a lot.”

As for the race, he concluded: “It’s key not to get in trouble in the start then only God knows what will happen.”
