Formula E veteran Stephane Sarrazin will rejoin the ABB Formula E Championship from the Berlin E-Prix, replacing Tom Blomqvist at the MS&AD Andretti squad.
Sarrazin will see out the remainder of season four in the #27 Andretti, partnering the already established and experienced Antonio Felix da Costa. He will also be the third driver to drive alongside the Portuguese this season, with Kamui Kobayashi having participated in the season-opening Hong Kong E-Prix before handing over to Blomqvist.
The Frenchman competed in the first three seasons of the all-electric series, picking up three podiums and one on-the-road victory in London season one, before being penailsed for exceeding the usable energy allowance.
Andretti will be the third team that Sarrazin has competed for, starting his Formula E career with Venturi before switching to Techeetah part way through season three.
“I am really happy to be joining the MS&AD Andretti team,” said Sarrazin. “After three seasons and a fantastic experience, it’s great to be back in Formula E. I will give my best to the team and try to score as many points as possible in the last four races of the season.”
The 42-year-old was welcomed to the American squad by CEO Michael Andretti, who also took the time to thank Blomqvist for his efforts since making his Formula E debut in Marrakesh.
“First off – we are very thankful for the effort and time that Tom Blomqvist put in this season,” said Andretti. “Stéphane Sarrazin brings with him a wealth of experience in Formula E. He is one of the smartest, most well-versed drivers in motorsports and we are excited for him to bring his knowledge to the MS&AD Andretti team. We will make a strong push and hopefully finish the season on a high note at the last four races.”
