Gill aims to rebuild Mahindra Racing’s strength in S6

Mahindra Racing’s CEO and Team Principal Dilbagh Gill hopes to build a stronger workforce this year by bringing the outfit’s operations in one spot.

“The biggest thing in which we had a weakness in season 5, was us being distributed into two locations, by having a team that was in Barcelona and a team that was in the UK. Now we’re bringing everything to the UK and I think that will become a strength.”

He added that for the first few years, having the team split into the two locations was a benefit until they realised they could gain better results by having everyone under one roof, “The talent we had from the Spanish team members in Barcelona were just amazing, but then you reach a stage where it wasn’t giving us the returns in the form of time and communication.”

Gill said that rebuilding the team will be one of the challenges for the squad. “The next bit of the championship is getting so much more serious and for us to be competitive on a 24 car grid is going to be quite tough,” he adds.

Meanwhile, Gill is looking forward to the new additions to the ABB FIA Formula E calendar, most specifically towards the Asian rounds. “Seoul will be an important race for us. Mahindra has a huge presence in Korea and I love Jakarta, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
