French racing driver Tom Dillmann is a well-known talent in the single-seater scene. While being best known for winning the highly competitive German Formula 3 Championship back in 2010, the Frenchman has a lot more experience and many more successes under his belt. He started his career in karting back in the late 90s with the help of his father Gerard Dillmann, who himself was a retired racing driver, mechanic and team manager back then. After successfully proving his talent by winning several regional titles, he got his first experience in Formula cars when he entered the Formula Renault 1600 Belgium series in 2004 with his family-run Tom Team. In the same year, he gained additional experience in the Formula Renault Monza and Formula Junior 1600 Spain. Two years in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and its French equivalent followed.
Dillmann started to get recognised in the international racing scene when he became a member of the Red Bull Junior Team and was able to get behind the wheel in the Formula 3 Euro Series. He showed a strong performance throughout the season and was able to stay another year. In the meantime, he became part of the A1 Team Switzerland in the A1 Grand Prix series. After 2009 did not start well for Dillmann, he got his first taste of the German Formula 3 Championship in the end of the year and went on to win the championship the next year. His success was enough to allow him to jump from Formula 3 to GP3 and then GP2 in 2012. During his three seasons in the F1 junior series, he was not always able to impress and left the series for Formula 3.5 in the end. After already getting a taste in 2015, he competed with the AVF squad in 2016 and was able to secure the title.
