Qualifying groups drawn for Mexico ePrix

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

With qualifying taking place shortly, the groups have been drawn ahead of this afternoon’s Mexico ePrix.

Group 1 is formed by Frenchmen Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Virgin Racing), Stéphane Sarrazin (Venturi), Loïc Duval (Dragon Racing); and Mahindra Racing’s German driver Nick Heidfeld. Duval and Sarrazin are the ones to watch, both having made it to Super Pole in the last races. Vergne may be a surprise, even though he hasn’t shown much in the last few races. Who knows?

The second group is definitely the one where the real battle will occur. Formed by Sébastien Buemi (Renault e.dams), Jerome D’Ambrossio (Dragon Racing), Lucas Di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler), and Bruno Senna (Mahindra Racing). Buemi topped both Free Practices, whilst Di Grassi was in the top three in FP2. These first three drivers are title contenders and will surely give a good show, fighting to get to Super Pole.

Group 3 contains Nico Prost (Renault e.dams), Antonio Felix Da Costa (Team Aguri), Oliver Turvey (NEXTEV TCR), Daniel Abt (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler), and Simona de Silvestro (Amlin Andretti) on it. Prost had a good performance in FP1, and so did Turvey. Meanwhile, Abt set the second fastest time in FP2 and will battle to make it to Super Pole for the first time this season. This group is a very important one to watch, as it might bring some surprises.

Finally, Robin Frijns (Amlin Andretti), S1 champion Nelson Piquet Jr (NEXTEV TCR), last race winner Sam Bird (DS Virgin Racing), Mexican Salvador Durán (Team Aguri), and Mike Conway (Venturi) form Group 4. Bird will try to keep his dominance, in a group where most of its drivers haven’t had good results during today’s Free Practices. Conway has also shown a good pace in today’s FP2, and can easily get to Super Pole, as he did on his debut in Buenos Aires last month.
