NEXTEV and Motegi team up to redesign the wheel

The wheel may seem like something we figured out a while ago, but NEXTEV will be trialling a new race wheel designed specifically for Formula E this weekend at Long Beach.

[pullquote align=”left” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]“The introduction of our optimised Motegi Formula E wheels is another step in our program that aims to improve every aspect of our team going forward,” said Martin Leach, NEXTEV President.[/pullquote]

NEXTEV have announced a technical partnership with Motegi Racing, a producer of racing wheels for formula and sports cars racing, to work on the development of the wheel.

Designed to reduce the un-sprung weight of the cars, maintain superior rigidity under cornering force, and improve tyre and brake performance through heat management, if the wheel works as well on track as is hoped, it could give NEXTEV a much needed boost.

The wheel is based on the tried and tested Motegi TechnomeshTM design raced in GT and prototype racing.
