Prost: ‘The car was so good’

Nico Prost was untouchable today as he drove to an unchallenged victory in the first race of the London ePrix, elevating himself up into third in the championship.

The Frenchman benefited from changing conditions in qualifying to claim pole position ahead of Bruno Senna, who went on to finish second in a much-hyped Prost/Senna 1-2, and drove off into the distance to claim his second Formula E victory.

Prost said after the race that his main priority was concentrating on keeping the car on track and letting the speed of his Renault e.dams machine do the rest.

“It was nice,” was how Prost described the feel of the car. “But you then think ‘don’t lose your focus’ because that can happen, I was just focusing and watching my braking points, taking it quite easy to be honest but the car was so good. I was very worried [about the weather]. I saw some drops of rain and thought ‘f**k!’ but in the end it didn’t happen. We are going to have to work hard for tomorrow, the track is going to change a lot but hopefully we can repeat it.”

With Sebastien Buemi competing for the title tomorrow, Prost said he would have no problem with aiding his team mate in his championship bid.

“I’ll let him go. He’s my team mate and friend, it’s normal. I work for the team and I’m not going to lose him the championship if he needs to go past, that would be stupid.”

The Frenchman now lies third in the championship with 90 points, only two ahead of home favourite and last year’s winner Sam Bird.
