Today it has been confirmed by the President of the Automobile Club of Uruguay, Jorge Tomasi, that Punta del Este will host the ePrix on the 17th March that São Paulo was due to host until being unable to find a buyer for the park where the race was to be held, postponing the race until 2019.
Punta del Este was last on the calendar in the 2015-16 season and Tomasi, who talked to motormario.com, added he was excited for the venue to host an ePrix and that they have already been working to get the venue ready for March.
Yes, it is a very great joy. We have been working in silence with the company Sportlink and the Intendancy of Maldonado and a little while ago, the FIA World Sports Council confirmed the official calendar of the Electric, with the return of the same to Punta del Este. On Wednesday the 13th, on the occasion of announcing the celebrations of the Centennial of the Automobile Club of Uruguay, we will give all the details, but since then the FE has accepted that the March 13th will be the Centenary of the ACU.
