Lopez retained by Dragon Racing

Jose Maria Lopez will stay on with the Dragon Racing team into season five, marking his third campaign in the all-electric series.

Having made his Formula E debut with DS Virgin Racing in season three, the Argentine joined Dragon at the Marrakesh E-Prix in season four where he took his best result of the year with a sixth place finish, and went on to score a total of 14 points for the American squad.

Lopez is excited about the season ahead and hopes to take the team back to the front of the grid.

“I am really excited to continue with the team and I am looking forward to being on the track to achieve our objectives,” he said.

“[I love] Dragon’s passion for motor racing and the team’s relentless will to keep improving. The team has evolved so much since I joined last year, and now we have the new Gen2 car we are starting fresh, and I can’t wait to be on track with the team for the first race in Riyadh.”

“[My] expectations are to be competitive from the start to achieve top spot results. The team has put in an incredible effort during this, and I am looking forward to working with them to keep improving and evolving throughout the season.”

Lopez’s team-mate is yet to be announced, but it is widely expected that Formula 2 racer Maximilian Günther will get the nod.
