Rome E-Prix Facts and Figures

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For the third time, Formula E visited the Italian capital of Rome. After two close, chaotic, and intense races, Jean-Eric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne took one victory each. However, Briton Sam Bird leaves Rome with the championship lead. We now take a look at the facts and figures behind the races in Rome.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Race facts” title_align=”separator_align_left” color=”custom” accent_color=”#5da73c”][vc_column_text]- Five drivers led a lap in Race 1 (Stoffel Vandoorne, Oliver Rowland, Lucas di Grassi, Jean-Eric Vergne and Nyck de Vries). This is largest number of drivers to have led a lap in a single E-Prix since the Season 2 Putrajaya E-Prix

– Race 1 saw the 40th occasion in which as Full Course Yellow was deployed in Formula E. Season 5 saw 15 FCY deployed across the 13 races, which is the most for a single season

– Even through Jean-Eric Vergne claimed his tenth victory, it was the first time the Frenchman had won from below the top three on the grid. Vergne started the first race from fifth place

– Tom Blomqvist scored his first points since the Season 4 Marrakesh E-Prix. The NIO 333 driver went 1,183 days (169 weeks) without scoring points, the longest gap for any Formula E driver

– For the first time in Formula E history, two consecutive races finished under the Safety Car (Race 2 in Diriyah and Race 1 in Rome)

– Mercedes have claimed the fastest lap of the race in both races in Diriyah, as well as the second race in Rome. They become only the fifth Formula E team to have claimed three fastest laps in the same season, and the first team since Season 5[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Overall Position Change” title_align=”separator_align_left” color=”custom” accent_color=”#5da73c”][rrj_bar_chart title=”” labels=”BLO;EVA;JEV;RAS;SET;TUR;DEN;DAC;LYN;BUE;MUL;MOR;FRI;GUE;WEH;BIR;SIM;LOT;CAS;DEV;VAN;ROW;NAT;DIG” datasets=”%5B%7B%22title%22%3A%22Combined%20Position%20Change%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%2217%3B15%3B13%3B11%3B10%3B10%3B8%3B6%3B4%3B4%3B4%3B4%3B2%3B2%3B1%3B0%3B-4%3B-6%3B-13%3B-14%3B-15%3B-17%3B-19%3B-23%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%230085ba%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%5D” legend=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Across the two races in Rome, Tom Blomqvist managed to gain the most positions. For the first time in his Formula E career, the NIO 333 driver managed to gain more than ten places in an E-Prix (going from 21st on the grid to 10th in Race 1). Blomqvist becomes the 28th driver in Formula E history to have gained at least ten positions in a single E-Prix.

Lucas di Grassi retired from the lead during the closing stages of the opening race in Rome. This is the first time since the final race of Season 5 in which di Grassi has finished below where he started (ending a 13-race streak of gaining places in the race). di Grassi also retired from Race 2, meaning the Season 3 champion lost the most positions across the weekend (23).

Nico Müller and Edoardo Mortara are the only drivers to have not finished below where they started in any of the four races in Season 7 so far.

The Rome double header is the first Formula E double header in which five drivers managed to gain ten or more places in a single race. Rene Rast and Blomqvist achieved the feat in Race 1, and Sergio Sette Camara, Oliver Turvey and Jake Dennis all gained ten places in Race 2.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Points scored in Rome” title_align=”separator_align_left” color=”custom” accent_color=”#5da73c”][vc_progress_bar values=”%5B%7B%22label%22%3A%22Jaguar%20Racing%20(42%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%22100%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%2363be7b%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22DS%20Techeetah%20(31%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2274%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%2364c369%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Mercdes-EQ%20Formula%20E%20Team%20(29%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2269%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%2373c864%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Mahindra%20Racing%20(22%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2252%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%238acb65%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22TAG%20Heuer%20Porsche%20Formula%20E%20Team%20(21%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2250%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23a3d366%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Envision%20Virgin%20Racing%20(15%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2236%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23bed867%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22ROKiT%20Venturi%20Racing%20(13%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2231%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23dbdd67%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22BMW%20i%20Andretti%20Motorsport%20(12%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2229%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23e2cc68%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Nissan%20e.dams%20(12%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2229%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23e8b668%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Audi%20Sport%20Abt%20Schaeffler%20Formula%20E%20Team%20(8%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2219%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23ed9d68%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22NIO%20333%20FE%20Team%20(5%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%2212%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23f28368%22%7D%2C%7B%22label%22%3A%22Dragon%20Penske%20Autosport%20(2%20points)%22%2C%22value%22%3A%225%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22custom%22%2C%22customcolor%22%3A%22%23f8696a%22%7D%5D”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Jaguar Racing claimed the most points over the two races in Rome. The 42 points scored gives the team a 17-point lead in the Teams’ Championship. Sam Bird picked up 18 points for team, and Mitch Evans scored 24 points after two solid races.

All 12 teams scored points in Rome, making Season 7 the first Formula E season in which 12 teams picked up points.

Race 2 saw 11 teams score points (Audi being the only team to miss out). This is the first E-Prix in which 11 teams scored points (the previous record was only nine teams scoring in a single race).

Norman Nato scored a solitary point in Rome for topping the qualifying groups on Sunday. This is the first bonus point that a Venturi driver has scored since Maro Engel took fastest lap in Season 3.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Topped Qualifying Group” title_align=”separator_align_left” color=”custom” accent_color=”#5da73c”][rrj_bar_chart title=”” labels=”Virgin;Renault;Audi;Mahindra;BMW;Techeetah;Dragon;Nissan;Venturi;NIO;Jaguar;Mercedes;HWA;Aguri;Trulli;Porsche” stacked=”yes” stack_mode=”bars” datasets=”%5B%7B%22title%22%3A%22Season%201%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%225%3B9%3B6%3B1%3B9%3B%3B4%3B%3B4%3B3%3B%3B%3B%3B1%3B2%3B%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%2333e04a%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Season%202%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%227%3B12%3B4%3B2%3B1%3B%3B4%3B%3B4%3B4%3B%3B%3B%3B2%3B%3B%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%23dd3333%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Season%203%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%229%3B6%3B2%3B11%3B0%3B8%3B3%3B%3B2%3B5%3B2%3B%3B%3B%3B%3B%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%2336ede7%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Season%204%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%227%3B6%3B10%3B3%3B4%3B6%3B4%3B%3B2%3B1%3B5%3B%3B%3B%3B%3B%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%23e235e8%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Season%205%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%222%3B%3B6%3B6%3B9%3B4%3B3%3B8%3B2%3B0%3B4%3B%3B6%3B%3B%3B%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%23eac935%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Season%206%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%226%3B%3B2%3B6%3B3%3B8%3B2%3B8%3B1%3B0%3B2%3B6%3B%3B%3B%3B0%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%23218705%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Season%207%22%2C%22tooltips_format%22%3A%22%7Bd%7D%3A%20%7By%7D%22%2C%22values%22%3A%222%3B%3B0%3B1%3B1%3B0%3B0%3B3%3B3%3B1%3B1%3B1%3B%3B%3B%3B2%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22%231106db%22%2C%22bar_bg%22%3A%22transparent%22%7D%5D”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For the first time in Formula E, a Porsche driver topped their qualifying group. After having not topped a qualifying group since Rome Season 5, Lotterer topped Group 3 in Saturday’s qualifying session. Wehrlein then topped Group 2 during qualifying for Race 2.

Across the seven seasons, a total of 42 drivers have topped at least one qualifying group. Season 2 champion, Sebastien Buemi, hold the record, having topped his qualifying group on 31 occasions (43.7% of the E-Prix’s he has entered).

Lucas di Grassi has not topped his qualifying group since the Season 5 Berlin E-Prix (a streak of 18 races without setting the fastest group time).

Only three teams have managed to top a qualifying group in all seven Formula E seasons – Envision Virgin Racing, Mahindra Racing and ROKiT Venturi Racing. Audi and Dragon Penske could still match this record if they have a driver who tops a qualifying session during the rest of Season 7.

Both Season 4 and Season 5 had a total of 20 drivers top a qualifying group. However, this record could be under threat as in just the first four races of Season 7, 12 drivers have topped at least one qualifying group.
